Simple Recycling

The UK Government is planning to introduce new Simpler Recycling regulations and will be requiring businesses to separate plastic, paper and card, glass, metals (cans, tins and foil)* and food waste from their general waste

The current proposed timeline for implementation is below:

  • By March 31st 2025 - all businesses and other non-household premises with 10 or more full-time equivalent employees.
  • By March 31st 2027, it will be expanded to cover businesses with fewer than 10 full-time equivalent employees and include plastic film packaging, and plastic bags.

We have been assured there will be no immediate enforcement action on 01-04-25. However, it is on the horizon going forward. We will keep the business updated with information as it becomes available.
