SUMMARY:GENERAL WITCHFINDERS PRESENT: DR JEKYLL & SISTER HYDE - ActOne Cine
 ma
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nExpect a night of trivia\, tangents\, and laughs at t
 he screening of Hammer's gender-swapping 1971 curiosity Dr Jekyll &amp\;
Sister Hyde. Then stay for a live recording of the UK's top ten film histo
ry podcast with the General Witchfinders.\n\nDirected by Roy Ward Baker (S
cars of Dracula\, Quatermass and the Pit) and written by Brian Clemens (Ca
ptain Kronos: Vampire Hunter)\, this version of the Stevenson classic take
 s a wild turn by introducing a female alter-ego\, while weaving real-life
historical figures Jack the Ripper and Burke and Hare into the plot. Starb
urst Magazine praised it as ‘one of the most ingenious adaptations of a
classic horror tale\,’ noting that ‘it is Martine Beswick who steals t
he show... she creates an air of sexual magnetism and cunning that offsets
  the doctor’s neurotic predicament.’\n\nAfter the credits roll\, the G
eneral Witchfinders team – Ross Cleaver\, James Randall\, and Jon Pountn
ey – take to the stage. Bringing a mountain of facts mixed with an obses
sion for the more bizarre side of British culture. The team will examine t
he cast\, crew\, and production history\, along with any weird and wonderf
ul side roads their research and conversation leads them down – an appro
ach that saw the podcast selected for the British Library’s National Sou
nd Archive.\n\n\nPlease Note: This film was produced in 1971 and contains
outdated attitudes and language that reflect the period in which it was ma
 de.\n\n\nBOOK HERE
