The Opportunity

The Senior Fabric Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading the strategy and day-to-day activities of the in-house fabric supply chain team. The main focus of the role is to ensure all daily operations relating to the management, ordering and sourcing of fabrics are maintained to the highest of standards – ultimately ensuring the business runs seamlessly. To oversee the management of a small team (3), including their functional tasks, logistics and the organisation all fabric operations. To maintain excellent relationships with all fabric suppliers, alongside a superb quality inspection process and vendor scoring based upon key performance indicators. This is a fast-paced role, managing all aspects of fabric operations from goods received through to the production of finished goods. You’ll be the key liaison with managers of all different areas of the business, from sales to buying & merchandising, so strong communication skills are key to this role. The role will also oversee the creation of an effective supplier negotiation strategy, focusing on discounts and manufacturer terms, supporting our significant business growth ambitions.

As Senior Fabric Supply Chain Manager, you will coach the team and ensure all Standard Operating Processes and Company procedures are followed, updating and improving as and when required.

The Detail

Key Skills Required

  • A passion for textiles and design would be a significant advantage; alongside the expertise to advise on which fabrics are suitable for different products/environments
  • Thorough knowledge of fabric trends, suppliers and external forces that influence the company
  • Working knowledge of Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 (amended 1989 and 1993)
  • Comprehensive background in fabric, logistics and supplier negotiation (buying), alongside a solid understanding of standard working practices within supply chain
  • The ability to develop and execute the company’s business strategies in order to attain the goals of the business
  • Preparation and implement of comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and growth development opportunities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Dynamic and adaptable approach to work
  • Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of team members providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance
  • Ability to logically and systematically approach tasks and/or projects, to work under pressure and deliver within deadlines; able to work within a team environment and independently
  • Possess initiative with the ability to think responsibly, make suitable decisions and with a positive can-do attitude
  • SAP experience (beneficial)

Accountabilities

  • Proven experience in a similar role, within Supply Chain preferably within fabric design, manufacturing or upholstery sectors or other senior managerial position
  • Demonstrable experience in developing strategic and business plans
  • Supplier negotiation – obtaining the best prices, lead times and quality, alongside supplier scoring
  • Oversee the management and coach a small team of employees
  • Strong organisational ability to prioritise the various demands of the business
  • Ensure company assets are always controlled and accounted for (fabric stock management)
  • Ensure that all audits and legal standards are met and exceeded for required compliance
  • Motivate the team to work both proactively and reactively
  • Control, improve and optimise the layout of the fabric library, fabric store and other operational procedures to cope with changing (growing) demands of the business
  • Audit the function for product quality, cleanliness, organisation, safety in line with expectations
  • Ensure that all operational SLAs are met e.g. QC of inbound fabrics, response times to internal client queries etc.
  • Drive and maintain general high standards of work performance across the business
