An elderly man is fighting for his life after he was struck by an e-scooter in a serious collision on The Vale in Acton, on the afternoon of Friday 23 January.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene at approximately 2.30pm following reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a ridden e-scooter travelling westbound along the busy road.

Police say the rider of the e-scooter initially stopped after the collision but only briefly. The individual then abandoned the scooter and ran from the scene on foot, heading along The Vale in the direction of Acton town centre. Detectives have confirmed that the rider did not return and has not yet been identified.

The investigation is being led by the Metropolitan Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit. Officers are reviewing CCTV from the surrounding area and conducting further enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the incident. Detective Sergeant Fiaz Janjua said the inquiry is ongoing and urged anyone who witnessed the collision, saw the rider fleeing, or has dash-cam footage from the area to contact police as soon as possible.
