INCREASED TRANSPORT SERVICES FOR ACTON – Elizabeth Line AND 272 BUS

REVISED TIMETABLE FROM 18th MAY 2026

ACTON MAIN LINE – Elizabeth Line

Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed a significant capacity increase for the Elizabeth line, specifically targeting three key stations in West London, Southall, Hanwell, and Acton Main Line will each benefit from three additional weekday morning services.

Key Changes to Peak Services (08:00 – 09:00)

Under the revised schedule, Heathrow Terminal 5 services departing between 07:30 and 09:00 will include additional stops at these stations. During the critical 08:00 to 09:00 morning window, the total number of services will be:

Acton Main Line: Increased to 8 trains per hour Southall: Increased to 10 trains per hour Hanwell: Increased to 6 trains per hour

This enhancement is a primary feature of the May 2026 timetable revision, implemented to address rising passenger demand and alleviate peak hour congestion for commuters heading into Central London.

The service boost follows a period of sustained campaigning from passenger and community groups. Advocates, particularly around Acton Main Line, have long highlighted a disconnect between existing service levels and the area’s rapid development. Residents argued that more frequent peak hour stops were essential to keep pace with the scale of growth since the station’s redevelopment.

REVISED TIMETABLE OPERATING

272 BUS

Services doubled to run every 15 mins for 272 bus from Cavendish Road in Chiswick, passing Turnham Green Station through Acton before terminating at Shepherd’s Bush Station. It is a particularly important route for those needing to visit Hammersmith Hospital.

The changes are part of a broader package of service alterations including those for routes 283, 72, and N72. The 283 has been withdrawn, and routes 72 and N72 are re-routed to serve White City Estate.
