Meet the Acton BID Bobbies
To help keep our streets and industrial estates safe and thriving, Your Acton BID has contracted professional security My Local Bobby (MLB). Our team will be actively patrolling the area to support local businesses, reduce anti-social behaviour, and prevent crime.
This initiative is all about providing our members with extra reassurance and a visible security presence. However, please remember that the Bobbies work alongside law enforcement, so any incidents or emergencies should still be reported directly to the Met Police.

Meet Abdul
Acton BID MLB Supervisor

What is your name and role at My Local Bobby?
My name is Abdul, and my role at MLB is Site Supervisor. I also work directly for the BID where I manage the security aspect of the BID for the clients.
How long have you worked with My Local Bobby?
I have worked for MLB since the 9th of August 2023. I have primarily worked for the Acton BID since joining, so I know the area very well.
HOW DOES YOUR PRESENCE MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Two words, confidence and communication. People feel happier and more secure seeing us around. That’s what it should be. A constant presence to reassure and reaffirm that there is help.
What does a typical day on patrol look like for you?
In short, there is no typical day as a frontline security officer. Once you start your patrol, you never know where the day will bring you or what you will experience.
What do you enjoy most about being a Bobby?
So many things. You get out of a job what you put into it. For me, it’s knowing that even just my presence within the area reassures both businesses and passersby. I feel comfort in them knowing that there is a presence there that they can rely on if they need to.
What’s one thing residents or businesses might not realise you do on your patrol?
We liaise with local authorities such as the Ealing Council Safer Community team and the Local SNT about ASB in the area. The job isn’t just about being visible, it’s also about enacting change and giving a direction for your worries and concerns to be channelled through to those with the power to make long term changes.
